I've had several jobs in my lifetime. My very first job was bussing tables at a cafeteria called Picadilly. Glamorous, let me tell you. When I worked my way up to the serving line I got to wear a hairnet! Ooooo!
I've also worked in bowling alley, a few law offices, a preschool, a doctor's office, and a car dealership. (Why does the term "Jack of all trades, master of none" come to mind?)
But one of my favorite jobs was when I was in high school and I was a checker at the grocery store! I don't know why I enjoyed it so much - maybe the interaction with the customers, the friends I made in my co-workers, or the fact that I was GOOD at it. REALLY good - I was consistently the fastest checker in the place, which was handy during big holiday shopping times such as Thanksgiving or Superbowl Sunday. But really? I think it was the very cute uniform.
Yeah, I was rockin' the red apron and checkered bowtie.
Would you like paper or plastic?

Spectacular!
Reminds me of the apron's the nursing classes worn for YEARS up until my class....thank God. We updated to a new complete white look. No more Shoney's apron.
Cute pic! I liked that post. You've had a variety of jobs.
There's an award for you on my blog.
We have a Picadilly here! I really don't eat there though. It reminds me of a cafeteria at school. I just don't like bringing those memories up. :)
Cute cashier outfit though. I really do love the tie thing. It sets the whole thing off very well. :)
You are a doll! The neck scarf just gives it that extra punch!!
Have a great weekend.

I especially like how your earrings match your vest. I'm pretty sure I had the very same hairdo . . . . which speaks volumes as to how old we are - lol.
Oh, just put a bow on you and the heck with paper of plastic.
Love it!
Gotta love those red earrings to match your apron! I will take reuseable, thanks!
That is SO you! ;) That outfit really works for you. Maybe you should wear something similar Friday? Bing the bow tie back in style! ;) Hee!
I'm not surprised one bit that you were the fastest checker around.
Your uniform rocks! So much more stylish than the one I had to wear at Kentucky Fried Chicken! At least you got a bow tie.
A perfectly tied bowtie at that. And love the matching red earrings with big hair. Pleated pants with ankle fit. Oh, you were rockin'.
I love this picture! Picadilly is such a fun place to work for a young lady! *snort*
Love those big red earrings too!
Love the bow at the neckline, classy.
I wore a very green Publix checker uniform for many years! I remember being a kid wanting to be a checker because I liked to "ring stuff up"...which the cashier always let me do. Then I became a checker...not as much fun!
Cute pic!
I prefer to bring my own bag, thankyouverymuch.
My favorite is the giant red earrings. I probably have a similar pose somewhere, with big hair and bigger earrings.
I too have had my share of jobs... from telemarketer, to fast food cashier, to nursing home aide...
That is some outfit though! Priceless pic!
you go TX big haired girl! (or were you not in TX then?) anyhoo, you look fine!! I had those earrings and probably a blouse with a tie just like that! haha!

Whoooo, look at you, struttin' your fine aproned self! I've always thought being a grocery checker would be a fun job.
Born and raised right here in Clear Lake City, Kris! That is some Texas hair!
SO CUTE! You look like a magazine ad or something!
Picidily to me equals the phrase "Serve you Please". This was uttered at least 5-7 by each person EACH and every Sunday for about 2 years when my parents and I would go and we would always get Fried Chicken wing, mashed potatoes, mac n cheese, regular roll, and some sort of pudding. :)
I'd love to meet the people that choose the uniforms for work places! I had a waitressing job in high school with a horrible uniform!
Take care,
Julie
Being a checker was one of my fave jobs, too. You learn a lot about people by the groceries they buy.
Oh my gosh - you are so adorable and beautiful all at the same time!
