Daddy, I want a PONY! I want it NOW! *

Actually, I want Chuck Norris. No, not the actor. The horse. The one the real Chuck Norris, the actor, donated to Camp Allen, our weekend getaway spot in the Piney Woods of Texas (he actually lives at his ranch close by). I got to ride Chuck again this weekend - the horse, not the actor. He is SUCH a great horse! Very well behaved and an all-around great ride. He listens to me. Instead of just plodding along behind all the other horses in the trail ride, we took detours, stopped to let others get ahead, then trotted to catch up. We walked in circles to show off. We're a team, me and Chuck. I wanted to take him home with us, but Hubby said he wouldn't fit in the van. Dammit. Do you think the folks at Camp Allen would be suspicious if we showed up with a horse trailer next time?
We had a really good weekend at our Labor Day Family Camp. The Friday night luau was spectacular, and it was followed by a beautiful fireworks display over the lake. Saturday morning we went fishing (Hubby caught one, the rest of us didn't have much luck, but it was beautiful out there on the lake!). Saturday afternoon was our horseback riding, then canoeing, which the kids had never done before but they LOVED it! After a warm shower and rest-down, we had dinner and then the evening entertainment - an awesome presentation by the Drum Cafe (Check out the link - it was really cool! The kids skipped the scavenger hunt for this!).
Sunday morning Hubby got up with the sun and went fishing again. He met us at breakfast, then we went to an outdoor cooking class for families, in which we made an oven out of a cardboard box and aluminum foil and coat hangers, then cooked a pizza in it! The kids thought it was pretty cool, and altho I don't see it as something we would ever do again, it was a fun experience! After eating our pizza for lunch, we headed home. It was a fun weekend, but tiring. We spent today just resting - no laboring!
The best part about the weekend? We did everything as a FAMILY. And we had fun. We learned things about ourselves and had a great time laughing and sharing new experiences. I am truly blessed.
* Can you name the movie?

Ummm, doesn't he know you were in labor for 3 weeks? :-)

Darling...if you loved me you would find a way to fit that horse in the van!

Ah, the immortal words of Veruca Salt!

What a fun weekend for ya'll! We'd love to do something like that too.

I love it. They ought to have t-shirts that say "I rode Chuck Norris" and a picture of the horse.

Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory? It so sounds like that bratty girl.

But I'm sure it's not because why the heck would she be asking for a pony?
