Daughter is having a tough time this summer. She adjusted to the move OK - and she's even looking forward to starting high school at my alma mater. But before school starts she's getting braces; so far she's had x-rays, impressions, and spacers, and now she has the bands on her lower molars. The rest of the braces and an expander go on August 11 - she's NOT looking forward to it. She hates dental procedures and everything associated with them. She thinks the dentist and orthodontist are evil men (they are actually quite nice). They've never done anything to hurt her, but it's just a thing with her. A thing I actually understand. But still a thing she has to deal with.
Also, this morning she had to go get a shot! She needed a Tdap booster before she can start school this year, so today was the day. Again, she was less than thrilled about it. Of course it was over in an instant and the only side effect is a little soreness. But it's not the way she would have chosen to kick off her weekend for sure.
Let's hope she doesn't have to endure any other torturous activities for quite a while! The anxiety may just send her over the edge!

That's how Lamb kicked off her summer. The shot not the braces. Those kicked off her 8th grade year.
Of your children, it sucks that Daughter is the one getting the expander. I forgot to ask you how many clicks/days do you have to turn it? We had to do 16 for Bear. He gets his off in 2 weeks!!! Yay! Oh please God, let that be it for him.
Hopefully, after Aug. 11th, it'll be nothing but good times for Daughter.
Hope she has a great start to high school. Will keep my fingers crossed on August 11.
Awww ((((((((((HUGS))))))))) to the Mini-B/S (daughter). I hope things start going better for her - she's such a great kid.
This is a HARD time in life, isn't it? I wouldnt go back to that time in my life if I was paid to!
BUMMER! What a downer. I had a lot of dental work done too. Started in the 3rd grade for me. Had something like the expander with my braces too. I completely understand how she feels about dentist and orthodontists as I feel/felt the same way.
Hope that the rest of her weekend went much better and that this coming week will sail by.
I had braces for 5 years. Not fun! But so glad I did it.
Poor thing.... I just got my braces a year ago. I didin't have to get expanders (which I hear are the worst part).
I'm old for braces... and it hurt to eat for 2 weeks after I got them on... Indulge her in milshakes and the yummy stuff that doesn't need chewing... Oh, and buy stock in Ibuprofen :)
Should I have been more positive?
