We took lots of pictures.
At the end of the day we were headed back to the van, which we had parked out in someone's pasture that was serving as a parking lot that day. Hubby went on ahead to get the van while the kids and I stopped to look at some baby ducks a farmer had nearby. One can not help but fall in love with baby ducks - they are so cute and fuzzy! Daughter was smitten.
The Farmer Man says to me, "If ya'll want a couple, they're only a dollar." What? Only a DOLLAR for a precious fuzzy handful of yellow sunshine happiness? How could I deny my children that joy? As I'm reaching into my pocket to pull out my money - I'll take TWO baby ducks, please - here comes Hubby around the bend in the van. He was flying! ALL the doors were open and flapping and he's shouting something. Something urgent....
"NO BABY DUCKS!!!!!"
Dang! My plan was twarted by party-pooper Hubby! Turns out the pooper part was one of the big motivations in his crushing of his daughter's heart. Good thing she got over it.
Now she wants a baby goat.

That's a fun story. What would you have done with the adult ducks? The second wedding I'm in this spring is in Chappel Hill. It's going to be so pretty!
When I ws 19 I stayed with a family who had a pigmy goat that lived in the house. It was potty trained but ate everything it could! It was stinkin' cute though.

I know which one you're talking about, Stacey - "Does it bite?" "Yeah!" LOL - made me think of all those years I wanted a pony growing up! I'm pretty sure baby ducks don't bite, but I'm not sure about baby goats. I know they'll eat your clothes, but I don't think they'd bite you just to be mean, would they?
cjh - we were going to turn them loose at a nearby pond when they were grown-up ducks. I had it all planned out in my head in the two minutes the whole thing took place. I'm brilliant that way.

Those photos are gorgeous! We've had dairy cattle, beef cattle, pigs, and sheep, but my husband says NO WAY to goats or chickens :-(
Baby ducks are a actually a pain. And they are very fragile. We had one years ago and it accidenitally walked through a yard that had just been fertilized. Sad to say, it died soon thereafter.
I have a dog that resembles a goat. =)
Let's do that again! The Bluebonnet Festival I mean. I would love to see those fields of bluebonnets and Indian paintbrush. I love the baby goat, but wouldn't want to try to potty train one - and remember that goat that tried to eat your dress that time at that petting zoo???
I love looking at the bluebonnets. One of the things I look forward to in the Spring. Should be soon, too! However, I have never gone to the festival. Another thing I should remedy in 2008.
