Vintage Thingies Thursday - The Doorknob

I've always wanted an old house, with all its old stuff still in it. One of the things I love about older houses is the glass doorknobs. I wish I had these in every room of my house! After coveting one that my Great Aunt B sent to Bubba's Mom, Katie Lady found me one of my very own at an antique store somewhere. I adore it!

Of course it's purely decorative since it's missing its other side, but I love it anyway. It has sat in various locations around my house, but right now I have it on my bedside table. I figure if a boogie man tried to get me in the night I could knock him upside the head with it. Beautiful AND handy! The best kind of vintage thingie!

I have a whole house full! Yea! And there are lots of places where you can get the other end. I'll look and see if I have one in the garage. :o)

That's a very pretty door knob. I almost did a VTT on the door knobs in my home today...no time...so I'm just visiting other VTT participants. Glad to see other peole appreciate old glass door knobs too.
Every interior door in our home has original old knobs similar to the lovely one you have. Sometimes they are a pain, but they are pretty.
Maybe you'll get enough one day to start putting them on your doors. :)

I really think this old door knobs are great too. I think you have found some unique uses for it especially keeping the boogey man away!!

I got it in this little antique/crap store on the Lower East Side in Manhattan. We were walking by after dinner, and it was cold, but this was just sitting in a basket outside the store, so I grabbed it and went in.

Shortly after buying it, we moved to a new apartment where ALL the doors, save the entrance one, had glass door knobs. I'll bet I could have just gone and gotten one from the Super.

I love them, too. But I've come to realize they only look 'right' in old houses.
