Kung Hei Fat Choi!

Today is the Chinese New Year - also known as the Lunar New Year. This year is the Year of the Ox. Little Son was born in the last Year of the Ox (1997).

According to Chinese Zodiac, people born in the Year of the Ox are patient, speak little, and inspire confidence in others. They tend to be plodding and methodical; they approach projects in the step-by-step manner that serves them best, and they never lose sight of their goal. They are tireless workers who are detail-oriented and believe in doing things right the first time. The world may perceive Oxen as being far too serious or incapable of loosening up, but as a friend, family member or housemate, the Ox makes a wonderfully strong, tender and affectionate companion who is protective and always reliable. Ox people are mentally and physically alert. Generally easy-going, they can be remarkably stubborn, and they hate to fail or be opposed. They are most compatible with Snake, Rooster, and Rat people. (I am a Rooster.)

I can certainly see some of these traits in Little Son. He is very methodical - he has a true engineering mind - but the detail-oriented part of him shows his artistic side. He's very strict about rules - some might even say rigid. Heck, some might even say he needs to loosen up a little! He's not terribly stubborn, and he does hate to fail, but I don't see him as a "tireless worker". At least not yet! He is very very smart, and yes, very tender and affectionate.

Do you have an Oxen in your life? To them - and to you - I wish you Kung Hei Fat Choi, or Happy New Year, full of luck, prosperity, and longevity!

FYI: President Obama, who has pledged to begin rehabilitating the economy, was born in an Ox year. A good thing?

As you know (but others don't), Bear is an Ox too. However, he is somewhat opposite Little Son as he is Very.Stubborn. However, I doubt anyone can call Bear too serious or incapable of loosening up. He most assuredly is tender, affectionate, protective, & reliable. And, also like Little Son, I don't see him as a tireless worker, yet. He is certainly well on his way with his rules, hate to fail & gung ho attitude. It must be hard for him with his procrastinating parents.

Yep, Little Son and Bear, two of the world's best Oxen out there! Love them both tremendously. Happy Chinese New Year. May 12 be the a great year for them.

My youngest is also an Ox. (another reason you, me, and D are meant to be friends forever). He is all of these things.

I have no idea what year Mr. Clairol was born in, but he certainly sounds like an Ox! Good thing I'm a Rat!

From one very old Ox to this younger Ox, I say "Oxen Rule!"

No oxen in my family! I just looked up the signs for my family and my brother's and sisters' families. No oxen anywhere. I'm a sheep (some places say goat). The funny thing? My name means sheep or lamb, and it TOTALLY fits my personality!

Could it be a first born trait? My oldest definately fits the bill for the ox!
Take care,
