Believing

My kids - 14 and 11 years old - told me this year that they don't really believe in Santa Claus. Which is odd because I think Navy Son still believes. I told them if they don't believe he doesn't come. They just rolled their eyes like, "yeah, Mom, whatever" - so I told them I would just wrap all the presents I had for them and there would be no "Santa" gifts Christmas morning. They were totally OK with that. They didn't even hang their stockings. My heart cracked a little bit.

On Christmas Eve, Daughter started to feel a little bit sad about not believing. I told her that if she truly believed in her heart of hearts, that he would come. I told Little Son the same thing. And I saw the slightest hint of a sparkle in their eyes.

Yesterday morning when we all got up, Santa had left a Guitar Hero World Tour for them - and their stockings filled to the brim! The looks on their faces said it all. Santa is real, alright. His magic never fails to arrive with Christmas.

Yes, Virginia Daughter and Little Son, there IS a Santa Claus!

This makes my heart smile wide! My kids (same ages, duh ;) ) still believe and hear that bell jingle. I was so sad when you told me about yours saying they didn't believe. So happy for them that they got their sparkle back. Merry Christmas, indeed!

As I said, Santa is so real. That was proven to me without a doubt. And we proved it to others. There truly is a Santa Claus.

awwwwww... I heard a gf tell her son, "If you don't believe, you don't receive" so I'm remembering that one! Glad it all worked out!
Rock on!

My daughter (age 12) still asks me if he's real, and my son (also age 12) will ask if he was ever a real person. Even at their age, they want to believe. They know I wrap the gifts, but in their heart of hearts, they so want to believe, so we keep the magic alive. They were excited to get their "Santa" gifts this year.

My 12-year-old stopped believing, but I'm happy to say he keeps the magic alive for the younger ones. I'm sad he's done with Santa, but at least he's keeping the faith for his siblings. (Over threat of great bodily harm, naturally.)

My 7 year old is trying to figure out the Santa deal - it doesn't all quite add up in his mind and he asks all kinds of questions that show he trying to figure out how Santa can be real. Come Christmas EWve, though, all doubts are gone and he is sooo excited that Santa is coming!

I'm glad your kiddos changed their minds. There's nothing like the magic of Christmas morning!

Oh man, the first non-believing year is rough. I'm glad they changed their mind, because missing out on Guitar Hero woulda sucked! I'm 36 and dude, I still believe in Santa.

My 9 yr old asked me if I was Santa - I told her basically the same thing you told yours, and she LOVED her Santa present! It's so hard sometimes...I think I was 6 or 7 when I stopped believing.

Gremlin has NEVER believed in Santa (same as his brother), but for some reason, this year he decided he wanted to believe. Christmas was so much FUNNER!!!
