Camera Critters #30

We've been enjoying the beautiful fall weather here in SE Texas! Last weekend Hubby and the kids and I decided to have a picnic. The park was still closed for hurricane clean-up, so we headed over to the campus of U of H-Clear Lake and found a lovely spot on the banks of Armand Bayou. The sun was shining, the temperature was perfect, and we enjoyed our lunch in the beautiful outdoors - but we had company. Keeping a close eye on us from the water were two of these guys:

They weren't very big - 2½ or 3 feet long maybe - but we kept an eye on them, too. They didn't bother us, tho, and we even gave them each a tater tot before we left!

Later, Gator!

At that length I guess they're OK. Don't like them bigger.

I don't know. I'm not sure I could ever relax around them!

I don't think I could have sit and enjoyed my lunch with those eyes on me. I wouldn't have been so calm. Give me the chills just thinking about it.

Sorry, but I still would have freaked out. I've definitely got a gator-phobia.

Sis: Those are neat captures of these colorful youngsters.

Didn't you see the sign, if you feed them they will grow.

Not very big, but I don't want to have lunch with them. Did you know that we have a huge gator (about 6 feet long) living by the school I work? Seriously, animal control came out last year and basically said there was nothing they could do to remove him (I guess it's a him) and just to make sure the students stay away. And there are some in the bayous over in Bay Forest.

Those are great photos!

Oh my gosh - OK, I'll admit it - they would have scared the heck outta me. I'm a big scaredy cat when it comes to crocks, gators, and sharks.

Never seen these critters in the wild. Not sure I'd want to!

Once in Florida I was with my grandfather on a golf course and those critters were EVERYWHERE! I was a totally freaked out teenager and my grandfather was amused by my horror!
