Doing the Write Thing
Daughter's dream for when she grows up is to be an author. She loves to read, she loves to write. She does both as often as she can. Back in September the students at her school were asked to submit their writings for the Do the Write Thing Challenge, a nation-wide youth anti-violence program (click the link and check out the website - it's pretty cool). Last week Daughter received a letter in the mail from Harris County Judge Ed Emmett telling her that she is a School Finalist out of 17,876 submissions from 175 schools (only one boy and one girl were selected from each school)! She will be recognized at a ceremony at Minute Maid Park in May (obviously on a day the Astros aren't using it!) and has a chance to go on to the State and possibly National level!

Wow! B/S your children are amazing...I always wanted to be an author as well. Then life got in the way and I lost sight, encourage that beautiful girl to keep her eyes on what she is gifted to do. xoxo
Wow! I mean, WOW! What an incredible honor! Keep us posted...
YEA! That is very cool indeed. Will she/you get to be on the field? Because I could pose as an aunt or something.
I am a New York Times bestselling author working on a new book about mother-daughter relationships and thought you might want to contribute. Please visit my page for details about submitting stories for Mom's Little Angel.

That girl amazes me as well. She is everything that is good & right in this world! I so wish I could see her being recognized but I know you'll take pictures. And I would not be surprised in the slightest to see her reach the National level. She is just that great!
WOW :0!! That is awesome!!!!!!
How cool! You must be so proud of her. Keep at it girl!
That's fantastic. Please tell your daughter that I had the same dream, of becoming an author ... and if she ever needs any advice, you can contact me on her behalf.
There's not much point in being a published author if I don't help others ....
