Pat-A-Cake, Pat-A-Cake, Baker's Man.....
My kids have taken up baking - a fun summer thing for them to do! Of course they aren't baking anything from scratch - we don't even have scratch in our house. I don't even think my store carries it because I've looked and I can't find it anywhere. So I settled for an 88-cent cake mix. They started easy - just a Bundt cake. Mix it up, mix it up, throw it in the pan! Delicious! Next they moved on to muffins - my personal fav - and last night it was lemon bars (again, from a mix, but oh so delicious!). So this summer we always have something freshly baked sitting around to snack on, and the kids are learning some good skills. As Martha would say, it's a good thing.
Last Week's Soup
Some of my blogger friends were concerned for me last week that my stress level was up at an 8. Well, I'm happy to report that this week it is way down - I'd say a 2. The worries that were hanging over my head have been resolved (and who says worrying doesn't do any good?) and I'm feeling good about life once again.
Make New Friends, Keep the Old; One Is Silver, The Other is Gold
My grandmother used to have a pillow with that little adage stitched upon it. I have some wonderful friends in my life (including my BFF USO Girl!) but lately here in the blogging world I have made some new friends - and for that I am blessed. Thank you all for the visits to my blog and all the comments - it's so nice to "meet" you all! Come back often!
Pirates - Arrrrrrr!
This afternoon we're going to see the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie (At World's End). I have heard that it is long and rambling and hard to follow, but definitely worth seeing. Since I get to spend a great deal of time watching my Pirate Love Captain Jack Sparrow, I'd say that's going to be worth the price of admission alone!
We've also started watching the new summer reality show Pirate Master - it's by the same guy who produces Survivor. So far it is just OK in my opinion - I don't love it like I do Survivor and my other reality shows, but it's good entertainment for the summer.
That's all I've got for now! Everyone have a great weekend!

You're so funny! I loved the scratch part---wish I'd thought it up first!!!
Have fun at the movies while I slave at my computer typing....but it's okay, I get pleasure in knowing my friends are happy. Okay not really but I'm supposed to, right?
The song, Winning, by Santana...I don't know HOW to emai a song. I got it off a site called www.Projectplaylist.com YOu can download a player and add whatever song you desire! Seriously. Free. No emails from them, nothing. Seriously. xoxo
What a wonderful post. You have given me a wonderful idea. Sam is now wanting to help out a lot in the kitchen lately so I guess it's time for him to start learning how to cook. Just hope he remembers the ground rules. Oh, my store has scratch! LOL
Lemon bars. Yummy! Perfect summer dessert. My mom always had baked things around for us. No wonder I have to fight off the sweet tooth. :o)
Scratch? What is scratch? I would wikipedia it, but I'm thinking I shouldn't bother. ;)
You know I'm a big fan of worrying. If you don't worry, that means bad things come true, right? Very happy about the low stress level. Good news indeed.
I know you have a Pirate Love with Captain Jack Sparrow. You can have him (altho, I do love his dialogue). I'll take Mr. Will Turner, thank you.
Forgot to say earlier...love me some Captain Jack Sparrow!!! :)
P.S. The movie was GREAT!!!!
We have lots of "mixes" around our house as well...they never taste as good if made "from scratch" anyhow! *LOL*
I have never seen a single Pirates of the Caribean movie. I have the first two rented from the movie store today to catch up! I need to be caught up with the times. Let me know whatcha think of the third!
I saw Pirates this weekend, too. I think he's one of my favorite Johnny Depp characters.
Wow! I wish *I* were capable of making a bundt cake.
Yes for sure friends like Kelly are the best! She practically had to pry me from holding onto her ankles when she left! Oh sometimes I just want to move back home! xo
