Last weekend we headed out to the country and camped with our church group - one of the couples has a great place out west of Houston with lots of land and a barn that is half-house. There were 15 adults and 15 kids, and we had a great time playing volleyball, riding bicycles and 4-wheelers through the trails in the woods, carving pumpkins, bobbing for apples, going on a hayride, and making s'mores by the bonfire at night. We even got all dressed up in our Halloween costumes for a party Saturday night - Hubby dressed as a Pool Shark - complete with shark fin and pool stick; I was the 8 ball. Little Son was King Arthur and Darling Daughter was Guenevere. A good time was had by all.
Sunday morning it was time to pack it up and head back home; Hubby and his buddy decided to take the 4-wheelers out for one more ride. And that's when it happened. Hubby managed to roll his 4-wheeler, breaking his leg in two places. He is going to need surgery to put a pin in his ankle to hold the bones together. He is not a happy camper. But he is alive, thank God, and doesn't have any other inuries (like his head!). And this accident has brought something even more important to light - he has dangerously high blood pressure. Had he not been going in for surgery, we may never have known how high it was, and he very easily could have had a stroke. They put him on BP meds for this week, and will do his leg surgery next Monday. I think this broken leg saved his life. God had to run over him with a 4-wheeler, but I think He got Hubby's attention. God is looking out for us. God is good.
I've had to ditch the 8-ball costume for a nurse's one - and I'll be wearing it for a while. I hope I have the patience with my patient! So far so good....

Geez, go figure. I can hear my mother's voice saying how dangerous those things are... Glad he's ok and that the BP was noticed. It is amazing how things work out sometimes.
Yep, God works in mysterious ways.
Sorry mom, didnt mean to tell on you to dad, my bust. Make sure you get dad an annoying call bell to ring every 5 minutes so you can run to help him, see what it feels like to be me at work. Did you really buy a nurse outfit? How strange
Can Katie borrow your nurse outfit when you're done with it.
